Bringing lived experience into your work
GLEN works with organisations across Great Britain to ensure that the knowledge and perspectives of people affected by gambling harm are heard, understood and acted upon.
We don’t provide treatment or support services directly. Instead, we connect professionals with people who have relevant lived experience, helping organisations develop services, research, policy and communications that better reflect the realities of gambling harm.
How we can help
Through our national network, we can connect organisations with people who have direct experience of particular forms of gambling, products and harms. This allows us to bring the right perspectives into a project rather than treating lived experience as a single, uniform voice.
We can support:
Research and co-production
Working with universities and research teams as project partners, recruiting participants, establishing and facilitating Lived Experience Advisory Panels (LEAPs), contributing to steering groups and supporting workshops and other research activity.
Local authorities
Providing lived experience insight, training and advice; reviewing policies and prevention materials; facilitating LEAPs; and contributing to gambling-related Health Needs Assessments.
Government, commissioners and services
Helping organisations gather, understand and report the experiences of individuals and families affected by gambling harm. This can include advisory panels, peer-to-peer interviews, surveys, events and collaborative workshops.
Other organisations and stakeholders
We’re also happy to hear from organisations whose work could benefit from meaningful lived experience involvement, even where it doesn’t fit neatly into one of the areas above.
Our approach is underpinned by training and safeguarding processes designed to ensure that participants are respected, protected and equitably rewarded for their involvement.
